News of a Thursday presidential visit was stirring excitement among neighbors across the Hudson Valley and in New York state.
Alexander Melton, a customer at The Poughkeepsie Grind, learned Wednesday of President Joe Biden's visit to IBM in Poughkeepsie.
“I think him coming here probably signifies he wants to build up IBM, obviously a staple of this community for a long time. So I think that really shows his commitment to building back domestic industry,” said Melton.

"I'm excited. Anytime we have a nice, big bigger come through the area usually helps all of us out,” said McGuire. He believes Biden coming to IBM will bring more opportunities to more than just the technology industry.
“I think any improvement in the local economy, especially in big industries like tech, is good for the local economy that they support and the neighborhoods that they're in. So if we can improve not just tech, but any kind of industry in this area, that'll help support us all in general,” said McGuire.
Vietnam Veteran Arnold Lavine was also keeping the buzz front and center in his mind.
“I don't know why here in particular, or the election or what, but I think it's fantastic and he's doing a great job,” said Lavine.
