Orange County Executive Steve Neuhaus, a lieutenant commander in the Navy Reserves, announced Monday he is being deployed to Europe.

In a statement, Neuhaus said he will remain in contact with county leaders, including Deputy County Executive Harry Porr, while he is stationed overseas.

"I look forward to completing my mission and returning as quickly as possible to get back to my family and to serve the residents of Orange County,” he said.

It's not the first time Neuhaus has served while in office. He previously deployed as part of a special warfare unit with the Navy in the Middle East, and returned in June 2019.

He also served overseas in South Korea in 2017 and North Africa in 2011.
