It’s back to school time and the Monticello Central School District is among the area schools excited to welcome students back into classrooms this week.
Students will open five days a week for their usual hours after last year saw a hybrid of online and in-person classes.
Social distancing, mask-wearing and sanitizing will still be a part of the school experience. But this year especially, teachers are thrilled to have students in the classroom.
What You Need To Know
- Across the Hudson Valley, kids are returning to in-person learning, including at Monticello Central School District
- Kindergarten classes, which were in-person for four days a week most of last year, are back to five days a week
- Safety precautions like masking, social distancing and sanitizing remain in place
“Seeing them interact a little bit closer, because last year was six feet. Now, it's three feet," said Paige Moore, a kindergarten teacher at the George L. Cooke Elementary School.
"So we’re getting there, but it’ll be amazing to see them,” Moore said.
For most of last year, kindergarten classes like the one Moore teaches only got to meet four days in person, with the school week broken up by online classes every Wednesday.
