The Johnson & Johnson vaccine has made its way to the Hudson Valley, with 3,500 doses being given out at Marist College from Friday through Wednesday for eligible New Yorkers.
Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro says that this week, there is a 400% increase in vaccinations from last week.
“The Johnson & Johnson shot, though, gives us a real opportunity to get to people who may not be able to travel so well. So we’ll be organizing pop-up clinics like this all throughout the county, trying to get vaccine sites closer to people,” Molinaro said.

New York is expecting almost 165,000 doses of the one-shot vaccine to be delivered this week. Congressman Sean Patrick Maloney says after a year of dealing with the pandemic, it’s great to finally see some hope.
“Help is on the way from Washington for places like Dutchess County, who have been on the frontlines of this pandemic,” Maloney said.
Heather Daley works for a school district in Dutchess County. She was one of the first to get the Johnson & Johnson vaccine at the Marist pop-up clinic, and she says she’s excited to not have to live in fear of infecting her loved ones.
“I can get back to some sort of quote-unquote normalcy, a little bit. Still wear the mask, still do what I need to do, but at least now, I have a little more insight and I can say I did everything I could,” said Daley, a county resident.
