Every year for over a decade, Leigh Nannini and her family at Farmside Acres participate in Trees for Troops.

The organization provides real Christmas trees to military families across the U.S. and this year because of the pandemic, the Christmas Tree Association says they’ve gotten more requests than usual.

What You Need To Know

  • Tree’s for Troops gives real Christmas trees to military families for free

  • Farmside Acres in Cornwall has been participating for 12 years

  • To donate you can either buy a tree and drop it off there or buy one directly from their farm

“Purchasing a Christmas tree might be extremely difficult for some of the military families. So this real Christmas tree can give them hope and know that other people are looking out for them and other families are really trying to provide support for them during this time,” says Leigh Nannini the communications manager for Farmside Acres.

Over the last 12 years, the farm has collected 6,000 trees from the community.

“Our family has strong military ties so we believe this is what we can do is tree farmers. We can send the trees to the military families,” Nannini said.

People can either buy a tree from Farmside acres or buy one from somewhere else and drop it off to the farm.

“We encourage people to support the local community that way you’re giving back in two Ways you’re supporting a local business but you’re also supporting a military family who are the recipients of the trees,” Nannini said.

They request that all the trees that are dropped off be bailed already and the deadline for tree donations is Monday, November 30.
