Two-thirds of the subway system is now equipped with OMNY readers.

Out of the system's 472 subway stations, 310 now support the tap-and-go payment system.

The readers allow customers to pay using contactless bank cards, smart phones and wearable devices.

The MTA says the OMNY bus rollout is also on schedule and expected to be completed by the end of the year.

The goal is to have the OMNY payment system replace the MetroCard by 2023.
