Jonaah Violet Super has received her first paycheck from her job at Target in Poughkeepsie.
"Every day she is bringing her energy in, she is able to get the job done in a timely and efficient manner just like anybody else," said Christopher Sandoval, store director at the Poughkeepsie Target.
After her mother gave birth prematurely, Jonaah was diagnosed with a traumatic brain injury. Her parents never thought having a job would be possible.
"She expressed an interest in getting a job and working just like her sisters," said Steven Super, Jonaah's father.
Her sister Georgie also works at Target and helped Jonaah get the job.
"Well, the reason why I wanted to be a part of this [is] because I wanted to earn money and be responsible. I love working here because I like to help customers, organize the shelves, and make them nice and neat," said Jonaah-Violet Super.
Her father says her work ethic is one of the best.
"It was about a month ago we had a snowstorm, school got canceled, and she was really concerned about the mall and Target closing and her not being able to come to work," Super said.
Jonaah looks forward to every shift and hopes others out there know the sky's the limit.
"I want to show other people that have special needs, they can get a job, too," Jonaah said.
