Four people have been hospitalized following a plane crash near the Hudson Valley Regional Airport.

It happened around 2:30 p.m. Friday.

The Dutchess County Sheriff's Office said David Scott, 50, was flying from Ohio to Rhode Island when he radioed in to report that he was short on fuel, and needed to make an emergency landing at the Hudson Valley Regional Airport.

The Federal Aviation Administration said the single-engine plane was on "final approach" to Runway 24 when it crashed less than one mile away. 

The three passengers who were in the plane 50-year-old Tara, 20-year-old Jocelyn and 17-year-old Ryan Scott were taken to a local hospital.

David remains in critical condition.

The FAA continues to investigate the incident.
