Organizers of Woodstock 50 could be facing the final curtain.
They tried to make a final push for people in Vernon to support the festival being held at Vernon Downs.
An open house was hosted by the Vernon Downs Hotel Monday evening to present its plan to the public to try to convince lawmakers that the community can support the large event.
It is expected it would bring 65,000 people to the rural town each day of the festival, scheduled for Aug. 16-18.
Vernon Downs operators say the track has hosted big events before and they can do it again.
“A lot of my wish is that they give it a chance,” said Vernon Downs Assistant General Manager Arthur Wood. “You know, we did Bruce Springsteen and this management group showed that they can pull off anything. It’s a lot of more planning and a lot more diligence goes into a concert nowadays.”
The open house will continue Tuesday morning, starting at 7 a.m.
An appeal with the town planning board will be held tonight at 7pm.
If organizers are denied again, Woodstock 50 could take the town to court.
