MONTICELLO, N.Y. — The names of the victims in Monday's fatal crash on Route 17 in Monticello have been released.

The Sullivan County Sheriff's Office says 5-year-old Charkeilys Viera died when the truck she was riding in crossed over the median and hit another car head on in the eastbound lane.

They say the young girl was not in a car seat and was ejected from the vehicle.

Her 14-year-old sister and her father, Carmelo Viera, were airlifted to Westchester Medical Center in critical condition.

Deputies say the family had just recently moved from the Bronx to Rochester.

According to authorities, the young girl's car seat was in the bed of the truck along with other household items and no one in the front seat appeared to be wearing seatbelts.

The individuals in the other car were all take to Orange Regional Medical Center, where one person was held for observation and three others were treated and released.

It's still unclear why the truck crossed into the other lane.

Deputies say their investigation is ongoing.
