- First responders will have access to FirstNet during emergencies and big events
- Whiteville is the first city in NC to join it
- It could make communication easier during huge weather events
First responders will now be connected with important information during emergencies and big events using FirstNet.
It's the first nationwide public safety platform and Whiteville is the first city in North Carolina to join it.
"We're really excited about it. We think it's going to improve our safety, and that's the big thing is responder safety in the field and safety for the public," said Hal Lowder, Whiteville Director of Emergency Services.
