New York leaders say the Hudson Valley may need federal aid after the May 15 storm that wiped out power and caused damage throughout the area.

Senators Kirsten Gillibrand, Chuck Schumer and Congressman Sean Patrick Maloney are teaming up to call for FEMA to be ready to approve aid for residents if it’s called for.

The fatal storms two weeks ago caused tornados, a macro-burst, severe rain and flooding.

Two people were killed in that storm, including an 11-year-old girl.

New York leaders say they're urging FEMA to be prepared to participate in a preliminary damage assessment with state and local officials, should the state request it.
