HYDE PARK, N.Y. -- Dutchess County honored its veterans and helped connect them with important services and benefits Saturday.
This was all part of the 12th annual Veterans Appreciation Day celebration in Hyde Park.
The event featured several speakers.
Three local veterans were recognized with medals for their service.
40 organizations serving vets were also on hand to offer their services to attendees.
Dutchess County Division of Veterans' Services Director Nelson Eddy Rivera calls this event a "one stop" for veterans to find out what services are offered across the region.
"Many of our veterans don't know many businesses, government from state federal local have services and benefits for them," Rivera said. "And this is a prime opportunity for them to be here and get that information."
Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro also took a moment to honor Rivera for his service.
The retired US navy vet is stepping down from his post in Dutchess County after 25 years of service in January.
