No criminal charges will be filed against the driver involved in a single-car crash that killed four men last year in Saugerties. This comes after an Ulster County grand jury heard evidence for several days from numerous witnesses.

In August, a car driven by 20-year-old Meredith McSpirit drove over an embankment in Saugerties and became airborne. Passengers Jonte Clark, Dante Crump, Adam "Jeff" McQueen, and Kaireem Meek Jr. were all killed in the crash. A key question in the investigation was whether McSpirit was impaired at the time of the crash. However, the grand jury found no evidence of impairment exists.

That part of the investigation included interviews with people who had contact with McSpirit the day of the crash, video of the car before the crash, statements made by McSpirit to medical personnel and law enforcement and laboratory analysis of her blood.

The investigation also included an accident reconstruction, analysis of the car's speed and an examination of the car for mechanical defects.
