WARWICK, N.Y. -- Fire crews sifted through what's left of this part of the lumber yard on Friday.

After seven hours of work, firefighters were finally able to knock down the flames at the Mid-State Lumber Yard.

"We worked through the night and got it under control," said Town of Warwick Fire Chief Jason Braiser.

Thirty different agencies were on hand to help, but Brasier said it still wasn't an easy fire to control.

"It's like 10,000 homes just packed into a small area, just a fuel load of nothing but wood," describes Braiser.

He said the windy conditions also made it difficult.

He also said there were no fire hydrants nearby and they had to shuttle in 18 tankers of water.

More than 100 firefighters were on scene to help.

"Took a lot of man power, took a lot of apparatuses, took a lot of water, but everybody worked as a team," said Braiser.

Officials with the Mid-State Lumber Yard had no comment about the fire, other than to say they're happy none of their employees were hurt.

A day after, fire investigators combed through what's left of the three buildings that were destroyed, including an office.

"We continued this morning to clean up all the hot spots with the assistance of multiple agencies,"said Braiser.

Fire officials said two firefighters were hurt, but they only suffered minor injuries to their hand.

Investigators said its unclear how the fire started, but the investigation continues.
