POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- A warning to ads on craigslist. Poughkeepsie police say someone posted a fake ad on the website giant about a home for rent.

Police say the home while vacant, wasn't up for rent, it was actually for sale.

"They were asking for money to be wired to an out of state address in return for a key to the property.” said Matt Clark with the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department.

Earlier this week another incident with users on the website, state police say Christina Dennehey, 27, of Norwich Connecticut posted an ad selling marijuana.

"She agreed to see the marijuana to a state police investigator, upon arresting her we located an amount of marijuana and a scale," said Bill Mulrein of the New York State Police.

She is facing a criminal sale of marijuana charge and being held on $5,000 bond, while Poughkeepsie police are advising future home owners or renters to be cautious while on the site.

"Prospective tenants are advised to not rent a property sight-unseen or without meeting the landlord/owner in person," said Clark.

Anyone with any information is asked to call city if Poughkeepsie police at 845-451-4000.
