For Sabrina Crowley, a day at the office normally consists of a paintbrush and what she loves most, bringing art into people’s lives.

Most recently, her work was added to the streets of Beacon in a mural celebrating and thanking veterans. It’s displayed on the wall of the DMV of Dutchess County, and was commissioned by Joe Schulz of Libby Funeral & Cremation Services.

Crowley said she was honored to be thought of for this project.

“They’ve done so much for this country, and I think it’s important to shout that out in a big way, and the Veterans Day mural in Beacon was such a great way to do that,” said Crowley.

She’s continued on by saying how special it was to see them enjoy it as well after the art installation was finished.

“It’s incredible to see them feel so honored and special, when they know something like is being done just for them,” said Crowley.

Crowley had always known a creative career path was in her future. Originally starting her career in fashion, she realized that her skills could be translated to a true passion of hers, painting. Now, she is regularly commissioned to paint murals in private homes and businesses.

“The Veterans Day mural was one of those … you can’t really use tape,” explained Crowley about her creative process. “It’s obviously more organic of a design, and in my mind, you can’t really screw up the organic stuff.”

Murals typically take one or two days for Crowley to finish, this one in Beacon taking just two to reach completion. Afterwards, she posed with veterans that came to see the finished project, along with spectators that got to watch her progress.

“People walk back and forth all day long,” said Crowley. “While I was painting, people [would] constantly chit-chat and hang out.”

Crowley loves sharing her passion with others, as this is always a labor of love.

“I’m always so excited to step back and see my design come to life on the wall, and then I can’t wait for the next one,” said Crowley.
