1. Why gig economy drivers in Wisconsin could soon get portable benefits
Whether it’s a ride from Uber or a delivery from DoorDash, you have probably taken advantage of what has become known as the gig economy. While there are plenty of consumer benefits, that isn’t always the case for the contractors behind the wheel. However, a portable benefits program being proposed in Wisconsin could help change that.
2. CDC denies MHD's request for help with MPS lead contamination
MHD requested help from the CDC’s lead poisoning experts at the end of March, after it found dangerous lead levels at seven MPS schools. According to MHD, at least three students tested positive for lead poisoning; all were tied to MPS campuses.
3. 2025 NFL Draft brings more road changes near Lambeau Field
Even though part of Ridge Road near Lambeau Field closed over the weekend, many businesses along that stretch of Ridge Road remain open, including FrameMakers.
4. Wisconsin clerk who failed to count almost 200 ballots resigns amid internal investigation
Madison Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway's office announced City Clerk Maribeth Witzel-Behl's resignation on Monday. The mayor's spokesperson, Dylan Brogan, said Witzel-Behl submitted her resignation on Thursday but the mayor had to wait to announce it because Witzel-Behl's contract granted her several days to change her mind.
5. Hamas says it's sending a delegation to Qatar to continue Gaza ceasefire talks
The Hamas official said teams have been discussing terms for a new ceasefire agreement over recent days in Cairo, including a proposal that Hamas free eight to 10 hostages held in Gaza. But the Hamas official said a major sticking point remained over whether the war would end as part of any new deal.

Meet Wisconsin's longest-married couple
Ted and Rosemary Prosser have known each other since childhood, but like many great love stories, theirs began with a small misunderstanding.
The couple married in October 1948. They raised 10 kids in the home Ted Prosser built with his own hands. Eight of their children are still living.
