Fifteen people, including five children, were displaced by an early morning fire at an apartment house in Newburgh. That is according to the Red Cross.
Five units in the front of the building on Broadway were completely gutted, with one unit in the back sustaining minor damage.
The assistant fire chief believes the fire began outside the building around 4 a.m. Wednesday. Residents said they ran outside in their socks and pajamas.
The Red Cross set up a reception center down the street. Other relief organizations and churches arrived to help with clothes, food and toys.
There were no injuries reported.
