A former NYPD officer pleaded not guilty to accusations of sexually assaulting two girls over the course of several years.

Nicholas McAteer, 45 of Greenwood Lake, was charged with 82 total counts of sexual assault.

McAteer appeared in Orange County court Wednesday following his arrest in August.

The alleged abuse began as early as 2003 for one victim, and 2008 for another. Judge Nicholas DeRosa granted two orders of protection for the alleged victims, but didn't grant the prosecution's request for increased bail.

Neither McAteer nor his lawyer had comment after the arraignment, and Mcateer slipped out of an unmarked emergency fire exit and into a waiting car to avoid media. He's set to face the judge again in December.
