Bruce Ferguson spent his morning with his sleeves rolled up. He's getting his booster shot of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine.

As a man older than 65, Ferguson is eligible for the third shot booster, recommended by the CDC. He says he didn’t hesitate to schedule his appointment in Liberty when he heard the news.

“I think it’s important of us to get all of the shots that are requested and required of us, because it’s the only way we’re going to get the country working again," Ferguson said.

He's one in a steady wave of eligible folks getting their shot at this clinic and county-run clinics every Wednesday. Karen Holden, a county health official, says that it can seem confusing, determining if you’re eligible for the third shot. But all you have to do is check the county’s website or call.

“The list is ... long," said Holden, the Director for Patient Services for Home Health Agency. "So if you just direct yourself to the Sullivan, New York website, you can find who is eligible there as well as how to sign up.”

The morning shift distributes the booster shots, while the afternoon shift is open to first doses. Walk-ins are welcome, and Holden says more information is just a phone call away.

“If anyone has any questions, or is on the fence about changing their mind about getting vaccinated, please reach out," Holden said. "We will talk to you one on one about your very specific concerns and help you make an informed decision.”

But for Ferguson, the only question he had was when he could come in, because getting this booster gives him piece of mind that he’ll be protected.

“I’m 73 years old and I’m retired, so it’s obviously prudent for me to get the booster shot at this time," he said.
