Originally from East Islip, New York, Tyler received his Bachelor of Science in Broadcast and Digital Journalism from Syracuse University. His journey with Spectrum News began during his college years as part of the inaugural Spectrum News Fellowship, where for nine months, he honed his skills as an editorial fellow in the Central New York newsroom. Upon completing his degree, Tyler headed to Louisville in July 2023 to begin his current position. He was drawn to the area by its vibrant culture, food, and music. He loves the restaurants on Bardstown Road, the country and bluegrass scene, and the vibe of the whole community.
One of the most impactful stories Tyler has worked on was about the increase in minimum wage in New York and its effect on local communities upstate, specifically that it hurt dairy farmers while providing other workers with a living wage. In addressing both sides of this issue, Tyler captured the nuances within the local response to a topic that has been at the center of national attention for years.
Tyler lives in the Highlands and loves Kentucky barbecue. He frequents Cherokee Park and has seen Tyler Hubbard at Fourth Street Live. Currently, he’s currently looking for some new parks with places to go fishing. He can't wait to indulge in more of what his community has to offer.
