Learning how to write in cursive can be challenging, but for many third-grade students at Myers Corners Elementary school in the Wappingers Falls School District, it’s the best part of the day.

According to Psychology Today, writing in cursive helps students improve memory and fine motor skills.

Although the Wappingers Falls School District requires students to learn cursive, the New York State Education Department does not. A spokesperson said state law does require some specific topics be taught in schools. Cursive writing is not one of them.
