Similar areas that received heavy lake-effect snow in recent weeks are in line to be hit with more heavy snow and gusty wind over the next few days.

Areas of Western New York and our Tug Hill and North Country would be most highly impacted by persistent, narrow bands of snow accumulation on a blustery westerly wind.

Heavy lake-effect snow will continue through Thursday and possibly taper down into Friday.

It will be gusty at times through the event with westerly winds gusting near 40 miles per hour and this could cause near whiteout conditions with blowing and drifting snow in lake-effect areas.

This snow event would be a major impact on travel in areas east of Lake Ontario and Lake Erie through Friday, so it's best to check out our Spectrum News 1 weather forecast before you head out.

A Lake-Effect Snow Warning is in effect for Wyoming, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, Southern Erie Counties until 1 p.m. Friday.

For our Tug Hill and North Country areas, a Lake-Effect Snow Warning is in effect until 7 p.m. Friday for Oswego, Jefferson and Lewis Counties.
