A possible tornado was spotted near Dryden on Monday evening as powerful storms tore across Central New York and the Southern Tier.

Video shared on social media shows what looks to be a funnel cloud moving through the Dryden area, but it won’t be confirmed a tornado until National Weather Service personnel determine that.

Residents in eastern Broome County also were under threat of a tornado Monday evening, with one property owner on Kenyan Hill Road in Deposit dealing with damage to his home.

The National Weather Service confirmed through radar that a tornado touched down just after 8 p.m. in near Whetstone Gulf State Park in Lowville, Lewis County.

As of 8:30 p.m. Monday, National Grid reported more than 7,300 customers were without power in Central New York and Northern New York. NYSEG reported about 300 customers were without power within its coverage area.
