While heavy snow has hammered some parts of the state this winter, Syracuse has seen very little.

What You Need To Know

  • Syracuse has only accumulated 20.1 inches this season

  • So far, January hasn’t had any snowfall accumulation

  • There are no big changes in the pattern soon

So far this season, Syracuse has only had 20.1 inches of snow.

The average snowfall by this point in January is 50.5 inches. That, of course, means we’re running a deficit of 30.4 inches compared to the average.

And since it’s been a mild start to the new year, most of the precipitation has fallen as rain. In fact, Syracuse hasn’t had any measurable snow so far this January.

So where does Syracuse stack up compared to last winter? Believe it or not, by this time last year, Syracuse only had 20.6 inches.

By the end of April 2022, Syracuse had only picked up 76 inches of snow, which was well below average.

From this vantage point, there are no big changes to this pattern any time soon.
