The summer of 2021 provided us with no shortage of summerlike heat and humidity, but how do we stack up so far in 2022?
As of July 4, Syracuse has had only two days with a temperature of 90 or higher. On May 21, Syracuse hit 91 and on June 26 Syracuse also topped out at 91.
This is quite the contrast to last summer, when Syracuse had already felt 90 or higher 11 times at this point last year.
In fact, Syracuse had two heat waves during the month of June in 2021. We define a heat wave as three consecutive days or more with a temperature of 90 degrees or higher.
Last year, Syracuse had 18 days of 90 or higher. The record is 28 days set back in 1955.
Right now, the forecast calls for temperatures to be fairly seasonable for the rest of this week with highs in the 70s and low 80s.
