Many of us think about apple picking, foliage viewing and hiking this time of year, but many boat owners will tell you this is their favorite time to be out on the waterways.
The calendar and the weather do not always stay in sync.
We usually see highs falling through the 70s with cooler mornings and evenings, which shortens a boater's day on the water. Those are still great temperatures to be out with lower traffic.
Speaking of traffic on our lakes and rivers, this time of year, many people start to pull their boats out of the water and winterize for the change of seasons.
This happens with many new boaters, so those still on the water tend to follow the rules more often and have more experience. Many experienced boaters feel they can relax more and enjoy calmer waterways without the added traffic and inexperienced boaters.
Many people love to boat this time of year and fish. Less traffic and change in season can mean better rewards at the end of a full day of fishing! Not to mention, taking a boat ride is a wonderful way to enjoy the beautiful fall foliage!
Keep in mind that if you are out on the water this time of year, there can be more changeable weather conditions that you should be mindful of morning, afternoon and evening.
Cooler water and harsher conditions develop towards Columbus Day, so be sure to check the forecast before you head out and be prepared.
