Hurricane Ernesto is churning towards Bermuda on Friday.

This is the third Atlantic hurricane this season and it packed a punch in Puerto Rico.

People who have family in the U.S. territory say they feel PTSD anytime a storm is forecasted to hit the island. Many still remember the damage and devastation Hurricane Irma and Maria left on the island in 2017. Nearly 3,000 people died as a result of Hurricane Maria. Irma left $1 billion in damage.

Right now, hundreds of thousands of people in Puerto Rico are without power or water. Sweltering heat is enveloping the U.S. territory, raising concerns about people’s health.

A family here in upstate can only watch, wait and have faith that everyone will be OK.

“I do think tragedies like this, or disasters I should say, tend to band the Puerto Rican community because it helps us unite in terms of one common cause and make sure that we’re providing that assistance back to the island as best as we can from here," said Orlando Ortiz, a Rochester resident and Puerto Rico native.

So what's next for Ernesto? Kaylee Wendt has a look at where Ernesto is heading and whether there is any chance remnants of the storm will impact New York.
