The U.S. land border with Canada is set to reopen Monday for fully vaccinated Canadians to come to the U.S. for non-essential travel.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials urge travelers to have the appropriate documentation such as a passport and proof of vaccination as they cross into the U.S.
All vaccines approved by the Food and Drug Administration and the World Health Organization will be accepted.
Children under 18 will not have to show proof of vaccination as long as they are with a fully vaccinated adult.
CBP is back to pre-pandemic staffing, but officials say travelers should still anticipate increased wait times.
"Border security remains our number one priority, and we will continue to protect Americans from illicit activity while supporting our country's economic rebound from the impact of the ongoing pandemic," said Matthew Davies of Customs and Border Protection.
Canadians entering the U.S. will not have to provide a negative COVID-19 test. They must, however, show a negative test less than 72 hours old when returning to Canada as part of that country's policy.
