Drivers who use the ramp from I-690 to West Street in Syracuse are being advised to find an alternate route this week.
The New York State Department of Transportation says the westbound ramp from I-690 to exit 11 will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily beginning on Monday, Sept. 30. The closures will continue through Tuesday, Oct. 1. The closure is part of a bridge inspection project.
Detour signs will be posted that direct westbound traffic to Exit 10 and then to head south on North Geddes Street to east on Erie Boulevard West. Drivers can then access the West Street on-ramp.
The DOT says construction is weather-dependent and subject to change based on conditions.
Drivers are asked to use caution in the work zone and are reminded that fines are doubled for speeding in those areas. Convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver’s license, according to the Work Zone Safety Act of 2005.
