Phase three of construction of the I-81 viaduct project is underway.

Syracuse residents had a chance to go to an open house Thursday night on the north side of the city to learn how the project could change their daily commutes.

State transportation officials said this project will bring lane shifts and close several bridges that go over I-81. The Bear and Spencer Street bridges are set to close in July. The Court Street Bridge will follow sometime after that.

The project will widen lanes on both sides of I-81 on the northern part of the highway that runs through the city for the future community grid.
