The Syracuse festival that brings all the best of Greek culture is back.

St. Sophia's Church welcomed people for dancing, wine tasting, and authentic Greek food to kick off Greek Fest on Thursday — the 49th year for the weekend tradition.

It offers many of the Mediterranean classics, including dancing, which organizers say is a big part of the Greek culture.

"It's important to my family and me," said dancer Joy Weatherupanthis.

The festival will continue Friday at 5 p.m. and run through the weekend, starting both days at noon.
