Saying he's keeping his "options open," Syracuse guard Joe Girard III announced Friday morning that he is both entering the 2023 NBA Draft process and entering the NCAA's transfer portal.
Girard, a Glens Falls native and New York's all-time leading high school basketball scorer, has an extra season of NCAA eligibility due to the COVID-19 waiver approved following the COVID-shortened 2019-2020 season. Over four seasons, he averaged 13.2 points per game for the Orange, starting in all but two games throughout his Orange career.
In a statement, Girard said he is "continuing my dream" by putting his name in the NBA Draft process, and entering the transfer portal "to gather as much information as possible in order for me to make the most informed decision about my basketball future."
