The Syracuse University men's soccer team is headed for the NCAA national semifinals.

The Orange defeated Vermont 2-1 on Saturday, behind first-half goals from Levonte Johnson and Curt Calov, and advanced to this weekend's College Cup in Cary, N.C.

No. 3 Syracuse (17-2-4) will meet Creighton in a national semifinal match Friday at 6 p.m. In the other national semifinal, Indiana will face Pittsburgh.

Calov opened the scoring for the Orange in the 11th minute, and while Vermont tallied the equalizer in the 23rd minute, Johnson scored off a feed from Nathan Opoku just before halftime to give Syracuse the lead for good.

Syracuse had five shots on goal to Vermont's one in the victory.

Creighton (13-4-6) will present a challenge, as the Blue Jays have beaten four ranked teams in the postseason bracket -- Missouri State, top seed Washington, Tulsa and most recently, No. 4 Duke -- to reach this matchup with the Orange. Three of those wins came on the road.
