Christian Brothers Academy is looking to defend its NYSPHSAA Class A state championship, but not in as much of a dramatic fashion as last season.

The Brothers had just a 3-3 regular season before running the table in the playoffs, culminating in a thrilling 32-31 win over top seed Somers for the championship at the Dome. Senior leaders like linebacker Tristan Korfonta and quarterback Jordan Rae hope to maintain a high standard.

“The first game of the season is always most important,” Rae said. “That really sets your tone set your attitude for the rest of the season the next game to come.”

That first game of the season is Friday night, against Albany-area opponent Shaker.
