A Cornell University officer has been identified as the impaired driver who hit an Ithaca College student.

Cornell says 30-year-old Blake Curtis was off duty at the time of the accident and has been placed on administrative leave.

Police say on Saturday, a 19-year-old was struck by Curtis while walking near the 1500 block of Slaterville Road. They also say Curtis contacted police immediately after the accident.

The 19-year-old was airlifted to Robert Packer Hospital with serious injuries. Curtis is charged with vehicular assault and driving while intoxicated.
