The wife of a late Onondaga County sheriff’s deputy, who police said tried to kill her in a 2022 murder-suicide, reached a plea deal with prosecutors stemming from a criminal indictment against her.

Karen Eames, whose husband Isaac killed himself after fatally shooting his and Karen’s son and their dog, and wounding her in the face and arm, pleaded guilty to a felony charge of receiving stolen property. She will be sentenced to probation in June, when she will be required to pay back more than $529,000 in restitution.

The district attorney's office had earlier alleged that Karen Eames was aware of an involved in Isaac’s alleged embezzlement of roughly $529,000 from the sheriff’s office’s civil division bank account.
