Onondaga County Sheriff-elect Toby Shelley and his command will be sworn in on Tuesday evening, his office announced Monday.
Shelley will take his oath at 5 p.m. at 213 Lamont Ave., Solvay.
Retired Onondaga County Sheriff Lt. Ernie Maffei will be the one to swear in Shelley.
Hon. Lisa Dell, Onondaga County clerk, will be swearing in the undersheriff and deputy chiefs.
This event is open to the public.
Shelley narrowly won the race for sheriff in November, defeating Republican candidate Esteban Gonzalez. This was Shelley's fourth time running for sheriff. He retired after 17 years as an Onondaga County deputy and was most recently a Jordan police officer.
Shelley will replace two-term Sheriff Gene Conway, who is retiring. He will become the first Democrat in more than 40 years to hold the seat.
