Syracuse Common councilors unanimously approved the Syracuse Police Reform and Reinvention Plan on Monday.
It was put together in response to last year's executive order from Governor Andrew Cuomo, which mandates police reform in all agencies by April 1.
Syracuse's plan focuses on things like use-of-force policies, body worn cameras, and increased transparency.
Mayor Ben Walsh said the work is far from over, but this is a step in the right direction.
Police Chief Kenton Buckner reaffirmed Monday that his department will continue working to deliver on the promises made during this reform plan process.
