The newly named Central New York Crime Analysis Center in Syracuse is tripling in size. Now, it will serve Onondaga, Oswego, and Madison counties.
It's one of 10 centers operated by the state to share intelligence.
The renovations will cost about $700,000 and the cost will be split between local agencies.
"We've had a number of cases," said Syracuse Police Deputy Chief Derek McGrok. "I mean, the work these people do every day, it's an extremely talented group of people. Both from the civilian analysts and the sworn people from numerous agencies, and every day we have success stories that we chronicle."
The Southern Tier crime analysis center, located in Broome County, will go through a similar expansion.
