The woman at the center of the Dannemora prison escape could be freed in less than two months.
Officials at the State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision confirm Mitchell has been tentatively approved for release on February 8, meaning she's eligible for release, but it's not set in stone.
While working at Clinton Correctional Facility back in 2015, Mitchell helped prisoners Richard Matt and David Sweat escape. She was later sentenced to serve up to 7 years for promoting prison contraband, and facilitating criminal activity.
Mitchell is currently being held at the Bedford Hills Correctional Facility for Women in Westchester County.
