The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has released its first “Red to Blue” list of the 2024 cycle.

Three New York candidates have earned a slot, an indicator that the DCCC is invested in these specific candidates and sees the districts as flippable in the upcoming election.

The list includes former Rep. Tom Suozzi, who is running in February’s special election against Mazi Pilip to replace George Santos in New York's 3rd Congressional District.

The other two are former Rep. Mondaire Jones, who is running for his old seat held by Republican Rep. Mike Lawler in the Hudson Valley's 17th District, and Josh Riley, who is running again for the 19th Congressional District currently held by Rep. Marc Molinaro.

Jones and Riley still have to secure primary nominations.

A big reason for Democrats to target these districts is that all, as currently constructed after redistricting, voted for Joe Biden for president in 2020 and the race for president will again top the ballot in November.

Since Republicans flipped two of those seats, and with the GOP having a narrow majority in the House of Representatives, the region will likely see major support and attention from both parties next year as control of the chamber could be in play once again.
