Republican businessman Josh Eisen is mounting a challenge to U.S. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand in 2024.
He announced his candidacy Monday in Buffalo and is traveling the state this week.
Eisen is currently also co-chairman of the George Pataki Foundation. He previously ran for a congressional seat in the Hudson Valley in 2020.
"There's quite a bit of pain and challenge that just goes unaddressed," Eisen said. "Kirsten Gillibrand has been there for many many years and I think it's time now for there to be a different approach to how we deal with business, regulation, and ultimately it's about how we think about communities and big government and I am from the camp of people who strongly believe that big government be always questioned."
Gillibrand, who is seeking her third full term in the U.S. Senate, has responded to the challenge, calling Eisen a "MAGA-Republican" and "utterly disqualifying for the office he seeks."
