New York farmers markets can apply for a share of $700,000 available through a second round of the Farmers' Market Resiliency Grant Program, state Agriculture Commissioner Richard Ball announced Friday.

The grant funding is aimed at helping farmers markets across the state make improvements to their enhancing infrastructure, online sales and delivery systems.

Eligible applicants for the money include registered not-for-profit organizations, local municipalities, business improvement districts, public benefit corporations and Natvie American tribal organizations with at least one farmers market.

Funding for the program was included in Gov. Kathy Hochul's state budget. Awards for the first round of the program were announced earlier this year.

“The Farmers’ Market Resiliency Grant Program is an important part of New York’s ongoing effort to strengthen our food supply chain," Ball said in a statement. "By facilitating online sales, delivery capacity, and infrastructure improvements, funding provided through this program will help our farmers and producers reach more consumers and provide an economic boost to our farmers."

The deadline for proposals is Nov. 15 and applications can be filed here.
