Senator Chuck Schumer is pushing the CDC to pay for a national advertising campaign to educate Americans about vaccines. He says a proper campaign would raise public confidence in the safety and effectiveness of the COVID-19 vaccines that are available.

A Gallup poll finds one in three adults do not want to take the vaccine, something Schumer says would be devastating.

"The dangers of getting COVID if you don't take the vaccine are many, many more times the dangers of any side effect,” Schumer said. “This vaccine has been tested over and over and over again. It's now in the arms of tens of millions of people and there are no side effects."

The push comes after the state's first confirmed case of the COVID-19 variant first detected in Brazil was discovered in Brooklyn over the weekend.
