Syracuse's own Howie Hawkins could play a pivotal role in the upcoming presidential election. He is the Green Party candidate for president.

However, Hawkins won't be on the ballot in Wisconsin.

The state's Supreme Court rejected a bid by the Green Party candidate to be added to the ballot, ruling that the request came too late.

Elections officials had warned of significant delays in absentee ballots if Hawkins were to be added in.

The ruling is a win for Democrats, who feared that the Green Party candidate would hurt Joe Biden in this battleground state.

In the 2016 election, Jill Stein won 31,000 votes in Wisconsin, nearly 10,000 more than Trump’s margin of victory over Hillary Clinton there.
