Unemployment in New York decreased slightly in March, according to jobs numbers released by the state Department of Labor on Thursday.
The jobs numbers for March 2023 come three years after the jobless rate shot to historic levels at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent order to close public gathering spaces and businesses.
Last month, New York's jobless rate fell from 4.2% to 4.1%. The national unemployment rate stood at 3.5% in March.
The state added 19,100 private sector jobs in March, an increase of 0.2% from February, according to the Department of Labor.
The state's labor force participation rate also increased slightly from 60.6% to 60.7%.
