New Yorkers can report problems with voting through a hotline announced Friday by state Attorney General Letitia James' office.

The hotline, (866) 390-2992, is being made available as early voting for state Senate and congressional primaries in the state gets underway beginning Saturday. It runs until Sunday, Aug. 21. The primary itself will be held Aug. 23.

“Free and fair access to the ballot box is integral to our democracy,” James said. “While states across the nation are making every effort to limit the right to vote, New Yorkers can count on our election protection hotline to address any challenges and provide helpful guidance, whether they’re voting absentee by mail or in-person at their polling place. My office will always fight to defend the right to full and meaningful participation in the electoral process.”

Voters can also submit complaints or report problems at election.hotline@ag.ny.gov or online.

The election hotline was first put in place in November 2012 for the presidential eelction. In prior elections, the office has field thousands of phone calls, messages and other complaints from voters reporting issues.
