A TV ad released Wednesday by Republican congressional candidate Marc Molinaro highlights the gamut of broad concerns facing voters right now: Crime, gas prices and inflation. 

The ad comes as Molinaro, the Dutchess County executive, is in the final month of a quick-start congressional election to replace Democratic Lt. Gov. Antonio Delgado in a Hudson Valley House seat on Aug. 23. He is set to face Democratic Ulster County Executive Pat Ryan.

Democrats have sought to gain from the U.S. Supreme Court ruling overturning Roe v. Wade, reigniting the debate over abortion in the country and this will be one of the first Democrat versus Republican matchups since the decision.

Molinaro's ad represents a bet of sorts the voter zeitgeist is going to be focused on a set of somewhat universal worries over the economy and public safety. It's also a reflection of polling at the moment that shows wide-ranging voter discontent over those issues. 

And the spot blames Democratic control for the problems facing the country.

“The failed policies of the Biden Administration and one-party rule in Washington and Albany has brought about the highest inflation rates on record which is crushing families who are forced to choose between buying gas and putting food on the table," Molinaro said in a statement.
